RMHS Teaching Philosophy
We provide the finest hockey instruction available in an exciting positive learning environment for players of all ages. We believe that a players development is determined by his/her own dedication and effort in conjunction with the teaching of a highly trained and motivated staff. All activities and drills are designed to break down and develop each player's critical skills through intensive technique training.
Side by side with this intensive training & development atmosphere, RMHS strives to create a positive, 'no-fear' environment at each camp, where it is OK to fall down, it is OK to fail, and it is OK to struggle with an activity. If the athletes feel safe and secure in their environs, they will feel comfortable pushing the envelope. We make everything fun, and everything safe, where children push themselves and aren't afraid to fail. As we like to say at RMHS, "If you don't fall, you ain't trying!".
We truly believe this is one of the strongest attributes of any RMHS camp. Due to the tireless efforts made by our staff, each player is comfortable with what they are doing, learning what is being taught, and most importantly, improving. RMHS prides itself on its teaching skills, its ability to develop athletes, and most importantly, our instructors. Our instructors are teachers and educators first, passionate hockey players second.
Please take a moment to review the info provided below to better understand who we are, how our staff is trained, and what makes RMHS the Skill Development Specialists.
Movement Analysis
Pure Skill Development is founded in a coaches ability to look at a player, analyze their skill sets, identify their weaknesses, and design the appropriate drills and exercises needed to make them better. The success of our camps is based in our abilities as teachers, to correctly identify each players individual weakness and then create practice plans and drill sets that enable us to develop that child to their fullest.
Individual Instruction
RMHS understands that each child is different and that each child learns and improves differently. We understand how important good communication through individualized one-on-one attention with an instructor is to a young persons interpersonal and athletic development. Once our instructors 'reach' a student, a professional rapport is developed and unheralded skill development advancements made.
International Instructor/Syllabus
RMHS utilizes cutting edge drills, exercises and teaching progressions designed to enhance each players improvement and enjoyment of the game of hockey at all our camps. Our staff utilize their backgrounds as European Sport Directors, European coaches, professional coaches, college coaches, Jr. A coaches, skill development specialists, powerskating experts, and hockey directors to develop the most cutting edge, creative and innovative teaching progressions available. These teaching progressions are the key to our success as educators and teachers, and a strong indicator as to the skill development advancements seen in our students.
"After working with Bryan and his staff at an RMHS camp, we were so impressed by the quality of their program that we hired them last year to run the the MAHA State Evaluation camp for USA hockey. As expected, they put on a great camp that was aggressive even for the high level players. Not only were they professional, but they had unbelievable rapport with players and parents that was reflected both on and off the ice. I would recommend RMHS to any level of player who is looking to improve their hockey schools and attend a great camp."
